L\u00e4ndliche Gesundheit in Uganda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Irene Kyamummi (Kampala, Uganda, 1983) ist das vierte von acht Geschwistern. Sie geh\u00f6rt dem Stamm der Baganda an, der mit drei Millionen Menschen die gr\u00f6\u00dfte ethnische Gruppe in Uganda im subsaharischen Afrika ist. Seit sie ein Kind war, wollte sie \u00c4rztin werden, <em>\"Es war keine Entscheidung des Augenblicks, sondern eine Entscheidung f\u00fcrs Leben. Ich wollte immer Arzt werden. Ich wollte den Kranken helfen, und der wei\u00dfe Kittel der \u00c4rzte hat mich angezogen. Wir sind Afrikaner, wir lieben unser Land, und wir wollen, dass unsere Kinder leben und dienen k\u00f6nnen,<\/em> erkl\u00e4rt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bei seiner Entscheidung spielten mehrere Faktoren eine Rolle. Seine Eltern, die Grundschullehrer waren, ermutigten ihre Kinder, ihren Tr\u00e4umen zu folgen, auch wenn sie nicht \u00fcber die Mittel verf\u00fcgten, sie zu verwirklichen. <em>\"Meine Eltern unterst\u00fctzten mich und meine<\/em> <em>Schwester Sanyu, die ein Jahr \u00e4lter ist als ich, und mich; sie waren froh, dass wir Medizin studieren wollten, <\/em>zeigt auf Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ein weiterer Faktor war das Gesundheitsbild, das sich in unmittelbarer N\u00e4he befand. Irene und ihre Familie sahen, wie viele Kinder starben oder an schwerer Unterern\u00e4hrung litten. In Uganda sind nach Angaben von <em>CIA World Factbook<\/em>Die 2019 verzeichnete S\u00e4uglingssterblichkeitsrate liegt bei 55 Kindern unter einem Jahr pro tausend Geburten, ein Prozentsatz, der mit dem in Spanien vergleichbar ist - drei Todesf\u00e4lle pro tausend Geburten, <em>\"Es ist \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigend<\/em>\"Der ugandische Arzt weist darauf hin, dass <em>\"in l\u00e4ndlichen und \u00e4rmeren Gebieten zunimmt\".&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dies ist um so wichtiger<em>denn die H\u00e4lfte der Bev\u00f6lkerung Ugandas, etwa 23 Millionen, sind Kinder. Dar\u00fcber hinaus sehen wir mit Besorgnis andere Daten, die in l\u00e4ndlichen Gebieten noch relevanter sind: 3 von 10 Kindern unter 5 Jahren leiden an Unterern\u00e4hrung. Und zwei Millionen Kinder sind unterentwickelt.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ausscheidende Kollegen<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\"2008 begann ich im Mulago Hospital zu arbeiten, dem gr\u00f6\u00dften \u00f6ffentlichen Krankenhaus des Landes mit 1.500 Betten und 80 bis 100 Geburten pro Tag. Die Kianda-Stiftung hat mich gebeten, nach Kenia zu gehen, um das Kindergesundheitsprojekt zu leiten. <\/em>(CHEP)<em> Kimlea, was bedeutete, dass ich einen festen Arbeitsplatz aufgeben musste, aber ich war von der Idee angetan, alles, was ich wusste, in den Dienst der Kinder zu stellen. \"Ich war nicht in der N\u00e4he des Nobelpreises, aber ich war in der N\u00e4he von Kindern, die einen Arzt brauchten, <\/em>sagt der Arzt und erkl\u00e4rt, dass <em>\"Ein Drittel meiner Kollegen ist nicht da. Sie suchen nach mehr Geld, nach einem besseren Leben. Von den \u00c4rzten, die es schaffen, verlassen viele das Land.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\"Dort in Kenia, am Stadtrand von Nairobi, wurde das CHEP-Projekt ins Leben gerufen. Ich behandelte Kinder, die krank sind und nicht wissen, dass sie krank sind. Kinder, die zu Familien geh\u00f6ren, die nicht wissen, wann sie zum Arzt gehen m\u00fcssen. Einige litten an Unterern\u00e4hrung oder an Krankheiten, die in einer Klinik leicht geheilt werden k\u00f6nnen. In k\u00fcrzester Zeit engagierte ich mich f\u00fcr das Projekt und wollte immer mehr Kinder erreichen. <\/em>Innerhalb weniger Jahre haben sie mehr als 3.000 Kinder betreut. Auch dort fasste Dr. Irene Kyamummi einen Entschluss, der schon lange in ihr keimte: Sie wollte ugandische Kinder behandeln und heilen: <em>\"Ich treibe das gleiche Projekt in Uganda voran, weil ich es f\u00fcr dringend notwendig halte, die Gesundheitsversorgung der Bev\u00f6lkerung n\u00e4her zu bringen und den Familien eine Kultur der Gesundheitsversorgung zu vermitteln. Ich denke, die Aussichten sind spannend<\/em>\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jetzt war Dr. Kyamummi gerade in Spanien, um den Harambee 2020 Award for the Promotion and Equality of African Women f\u00fcr ihr CHEP-Projekt entgegenzunehmen, das von Ren\u00e9 Furterer Laboratories gesponsert wird und die medizinische Versorgung der bed\u00fcrftigsten Kinder in Uganda zum Ziel hat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wie Sie sich vorstellen k\u00f6nnen, bittet Irene Kyamummi um Hilfe f\u00fcr den Bau einer Krankenstation in Kampala, die <em>\"Es erm\u00f6glicht uns, die Arbeit zu zentralisieren und die Pflege zu erleichtern. Mit nur 50 Euro kann ein Kind 10 Jahre lang medizinisch versorgt werden.
