Obwohl die armenisch-apostolische Kirche eine unabh\u00e4ngige Kirche ist, wurden historisch gesehen sehr herzliche Beziehungen zur katholischen Kirche und insbesondere zum Heiligen Stuhl aufgebaut, die auch heute noch gepflegt und weiterentwickelt werden.<\/p>\n<p>Auch heute entwickeln sich diese Beziehungen aktiv weiter. Als grundlegendes Beispiel f\u00fcr gegenseitigen Respekt ist die Aufstellung der Statue des heiligen Gregor des Erleuchters (oder des Armeniers), Apostel von Armenien und Gr\u00fcnder der armenischen Kirche, in einer der \u00e4u\u00dferen Nischen des Petersdoms im Vatikan im Jahr 2005 zu erw\u00e4hnen; und die offizielle Anerkennung des armenischen Geistlichen und Philosophen Gregor von Narek als Kirchenlehrer durch Papst Franziskus bei der Hundertjahrfeier des armenischen V\u00f6lkermords.<\/p>\n<p>Vor buchst\u00e4blich zwei oder drei Tagen wurde das Motto des Besuchs von Papst Franziskus in Armenien bekannt gegeben, das wie folgt lautet <i>Besuch im ersten christlichen Land<\/i>. Damit \u00fcbernimmt Papst Franziskus den Staffelstab von Papst Johannes Paul II., der 2001 Armenien im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten zum 1700-j\u00e4hrigen Jubil\u00e4um der Annahme des Christentums in Armenien besuchte. Wie Seine Heiligkeit Papst Franziskus in seinem\u00a0<i>Botschaft an die Armenier<\/i>Bei der Messe am 12. April 2015 wurde Armenien <i>\"die ersten unter den V\u00f6lkern, die im Laufe der Jahrhunderte das Evangelium Christi angenommen haben\".<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Im Jahr 301 wurde Armenien das erste christliche Land der Welt, indem es das Christentum als offizielle Staatsreligion annahm. Jahrhundertelang war das armenische Volk, umgeben von nichtchristlichen L\u00e4ndern und Reichen, vielen Entbehrungen und Kriegen ausgesetzt, aber es blieb standhaft in seiner Entscheidung. Sie haben ihren christlichen Glauben nie in Frage gestellt. Der Besuch des Papstes in Armenien ist eine Hommage an das armenische Volk und seine tausendj\u00e4hrige Geschichte sowie ein Aufruf zum Frieden in der Region und in der Welt.<\/p>\n<p>Dieser Besuch wird auch vom Vatikan als vorrangig eingestuft. Dies geht aus dem Programm des Besuchs hervor. Der Papst wird drei Tage in Armenien verbringen: vom 24. bis 26. Juni. Neben der Hauptstadt Eriwan und dem Heiligen Stuhl von Armenien, Etschmiatsin, wird er auch Gjumri, die zweitgr\u00f6\u00dfte Stadt der Republik, sowie Wallfahrtsorte von gro\u00dfer religi\u00f6ser Bedeutung auf dem Gebiet Armeniens besuchen.
