Dezember 1913 oder 1914 in Cleveland, USA, geboren. In den fr\u00fchen 1930er Jahren bewarb sie sich bei der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bvmsisters.org\/\">Kongregation<\/a> der Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, einem Institut, das von einer irischen Nonne nur hundert Jahre zuvor gegr\u00fcndet worden war. Im Jahr 1940 legte sie schlie\u00dflich ihre feierliche Profess ab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ohne ihre Ordenstracht abzulegen, machte Schwester Mary Keller ihren Abschluss in Mathematik. Damit war sie eine Pionierin in einer Welt, die Frauen gegen\u00fcber eher verschlossen war und in der die Anwesenheit einer Nonne eine \u00dcberraschung darstellte. Damit gab sie sich nicht zufrieden, sondern studierte weiter f\u00fcr einen Master-Abschluss in Mathematik und Physik, der sie auf ihren n\u00e4chsten akademischen Erfolg vorbereiten sollte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Einigen Quellen zufolge trat er 1958 in ein Labor ein, in dem nur m\u00e4nnliche Mitglieder zugelassen waren. Zusammen mit seinen Kollegen entwickelte er die Programmiersprache \"BASIC\", die die Grundlage f\u00fcr einige der heute verwendeten Sprachen bildet. Andere Quellen halten dies jedoch f\u00fcr falsch. Bewiesen ist nur, dass er an einigen Projekten am Dartmouth College beteiligt war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dr. Mary Kenneth Keller<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wie dem auch sei, 1965 reichte sie ihre Dissertation \"Inductive Inference of Computer Generated Patterns\" ein. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war sie die erste Doktorin der Informatik in den Vereinigten Staaten. Am selben Tag, dem 7. Juni, verteidigte auch Irving Tang seine Doktorarbeit, eine Tatsache, die jahrelang ignoriert wurde, weshalb viele immer noch glauben, dass Keller die erste Person war, die in den Vereinigten Staaten einen Doktortitel in Informatik erwarb, ohne ihr Geschlecht zu erw\u00e4hnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nach Abschluss seiner Dissertation begann er an der Clark University zu arbeiten, einer von seiner Gemeinde gegr\u00fcndeten Einrichtung. Dort er\u00f6ffnete er den Fachbereich Informatik und leitete ihn zwanzig Jahre lang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zeit ihres Lebens setzte sich Mary Kenneth Keller f\u00fcr den Zugang von Frauen zu Computern ein und sagte, es g\u00e4be noch viel \u00fcber das Potenzial von Computern zu entdecken. Sie half beim Aufbau von Partnerschaften, um die Computertechnik in den Bildungsbereich zu bringen, und sprach sogar \u00fcber eine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/de\/nachrichten\/papst-kunstliche-intelligenz\/\">k\u00fcnstliche Intelligenz<\/a> f\u00fcr die Zukunft.
