{"id":44756,"date":"2025-01-28T07:23:43","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T05:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=44756"},"modified":"2025-11-28T14:14:43","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T12:14:43","slug":"saint-of-the-day-saint-thomas-de-aquino-church-lamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/foco\/santo-del-dia-santo-tomas-de-aquino-lampara-de-la-iglesia\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Thomas Aquinas, \"lamp of the Church and of the world\"."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The influence that the figure and work of St. Thomas Aquinas (<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Roccasecca\">Roccasecca<\/a>, 1225-<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abad%C3%ADa_de_Fossanova\">Fossanova Abbey<\/a>(March 7, 1274), barely 50 years old, has had an unquestionable impact on the development of Western philosophical and theological thought, not only for the \"initiated,\" beginning with his doctrine of being, but also on Trinitarian theology. This has been pointed out by Popes and numerous specialists, such as the Prefect of the Vatican Library, Mauro Mantovani, in a dossier of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/news\/saint-tomas-de-aquino-numero-omnes-july-august\/\">Omnes<\/a> in the Summer 2024 issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the anniversary of his canonization in 2023 (700 years), and of his death in 2024 (750), the anniversary of the birth (800 years) of the Dominican priest (Order of Preachers), patron of Catholic universities and schools (Leo XIII), has arrived in 2025. The invitation of Pope Francis has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/news\/the-thought-of-holy-tomas-comes-to-everyone\/\">rediscover<\/a> through the work of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dominicos.org\/quienes-somos\/grandes-figuras\/santos\/santo-tomas-de-aquino\/\">St. Thomas<\/a>The treasure that can be extracted from it \"to respond to the cultural challenges of today\". St. Thomas wrote the 'Summa Theologica' and is the author, for example, of the five philosophical ways to demonstrate the existence of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Mauro Mantovani, Lorella Congiunti, and other experts have synthesized a great contribution of the wise Aquinas. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/benedict-xvi\/es\/audiences\/2010\/documents\/hf_ben-xvi_aud_20100602.html\">explained<\/a> Benedict XVI in 2010: \"Following the school of Albert the Great, he carried out an operation of fundamental importance for the history of philosophy and theology; I would say for the history of culture: he made an in-depth study of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/resources-2\/tomas-de-aquino-synthetic-understanding-reality\/\">Aristotle<\/a> and their interpreters, obtaining new Latin translations of the original Greek texts. (...) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/signatures\/three-medieval-sages-and-the-existence-of-god\/\">Thomas Aquinas<\/a> showed that between Christian faith and reason there subsists a natural harmony (they go together).
