{"id":45128,"date":"2025-02-10T18:13:10","date_gmt":"2025-02-10T16:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=45128"},"modified":"2025-02-10T18:16:33","modified_gmt":"2025-02-10T16:16:33","slug":"harambee-announces-sixth-guadalupe-scholarship-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/actualidad\/harambee-convoca-sexto-programa-becas-guadalupe\/","title":{"rendered":"Harambee announces sixth Guadeloupe scholarship program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, February 11, the terms and conditions of the sixth call for applications for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harambee.es\/becas-guadalupe\/\">Harambee Guadalupe Scholarship Program<\/a> for women scientists from sub-Saharan Africa, which will remain open with a 45-day application period at www.harambee.es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This program, created in 2019 in memory of the Spanish scientist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/focus\/guadalupe-ortiz-de-landazuri-five-years-of-beatification\/\">Guadalupe Ortiz de Land\u00e1zuri<\/a>The Foundation, which was beatified that same year, provides mobility grants to women from sub-Saharan Africa so that they can broaden their scientific horizons during research stays outside their country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective of this initiative, according to the vice-president of Harambee ONGD, Ram\u00f3n Pardo de Santayana, is to promote leadership and give visibility to African women in scientific, technological and humanistic research, promote equality in the academic field and help complete scientific and technical training and specialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Harambee Scholarships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A total of 25 women scientists have already enjoyed the scholarships, with research projects supported by Harambee ONGD. Seven have been established by the Chair of Sustainable Chemistry of the UNED with funding from the City of Puertollano.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nigeria, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Uganda, D.R. Congo and Senegal are the places where the woodcocks come from. Among them, the Nigerian biologist Brakemi Egbedi, has arrived in Vigo in early 2025 to research on obtaining marine collagen from fishery by-products at the Institute of Marine Research CSIC.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prestigious Spanish researchers make up the scientific committee that evaluates the applicants and selects those with the best curriculum among those who meet the requirements, among which is the commitment to return to their country. Harambee ONGD is an international solidarity initiative that promotes, through cooperation and communication, development in sub-Saharan Africa by supporting educational projects for the promotion of women, maternal and child health and food security.
