Pope Leo XIV has had a telephone conversation with Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine. The call comes in the wake of events in the Gaza Strip conflict <\/a>and violence in the West Bank and the attack on the only Catholic church in the Strip in which three people were killed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The press office of the Holy See has reported this conversation in which Leo XIV continues the line of dialogue and promotion of peace, a sign of his pontificate since its beginnings. Two days ago, the pontiff discussed the same subject with the Prime Minister of Israel<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in the conversation with Abbas, the Pope has again asked <\/a>the \"respect for International Humanitarian Law, underlining the obligation to protect civilians and holy places and the prohibition of the indiscriminate use of force and the forced displacement of the population\" according to the note issued by the Holy See.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
