Health, as Pope Francis said, \u2018is not a commodity, but a universal right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The common good, a fundamental principle<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe need to strengthen our understanding and practice of the common good, so that it is not neglected under the pressure of particular, individual and national interests,\u201d the Pontiff added yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The common good - one of the fundamental principles of the Church's social thought -, said Leo XIV, \u201crisks remaining an abstract and irrelevant notion if we do not recognize its roots in the concrete practice of the close relationships between persons and the bonds that are lived among citizens.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the basis on which a democratic culture can grow, one that encourages participation and is capable of combining efficiency, solidarity and justice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Restoring confidence in medicine and professionals.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In connection with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/news\/culture\/valuing-the-work-of-those-who-take-care-of-the-elderly\/\">the care<\/a>, The Pope added that only with this fundamental attitude of support for others \u201cwill we be able to develop more effective and sustainable health systems.
