{"id":5910,"date":"2021-01-13T14:03:36","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T13:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=5910"},"modified":"2026-01-15T11:57:03","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T10:57:03","slug":"duni-sawadogo-harambee-prize-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/actualidad\/cultura\/duni-sawadogo-premio-harambee-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Harambee 2021 Award recognizes the advancement of women in science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Duni Sawadogo promotes the \"Women and Science\" project in her country and fights against the trafficking of counterfeit medicines that especially affect the most vulnerable.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Supernatural <strong>Ivorian Ivorian scientist, Duni Sawadogo<\/strong>has been recognized, this year, with the <strong>Award <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harambee.es\/\">Harambee<\/a> to the Advancement and Equality of African Women<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sawadogo<\/strong> in her country by promoting the training of women university students and scientists, and also by promoting the <strong>Women and Science\" project. <\/strong>Another of the aspects that have made it worthy of this award is <strong>the fight against trafficking in counterfeit medicines <\/strong>which mainly affects the most vulnerable, such as the poorest women and children, and which, according to Dr. Sawadogo, generates more money than drugs and has a special and worrying incidence in Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Awarding of the prize  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The award will be presented, at a <strong>online gala on March 4<\/strong>by H.R.H. <strong>Do\u00f1a Teresa de Borb\u00f3n dos Sicilias,<\/strong> Honorary President of Harambee and <strong>D. Nicolas Zombr\u00e9,<\/strong> Group Chief Executive Officer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pierre-fabre.com\/es-es\/nuestras-marcas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pierre Fabre <\/a>in Spain, which sponsors this award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biography of Duni Sawadogo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Duni Sawadogo, <strong>D. in Pharmacy from the University of Abidjan.<\/strong> y <strong>Ph.D. in Cell Biology and Hematology from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unav.es\">University of Navarra <\/a><\/strong>is Professor of Biological Hematology and Principal Investigator at the School of Pharmacy of the University of California, Berkeley, USA. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-fhb.edu.ci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Felix Houphouet Boigny University,<\/a> of Abidjan. During the pandemic, Dr. Sawadogo has been appointed as a member of the Steering Committee for the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.airp.ci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AIRP<\/a> (Autorit\u00e9 Ivoirienne de R\u00e9gulation Pharmaceutique<\/strong>). A body similar to the European Medicines Agency, which has approved covid-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, AIRP makes safe, effective and inexpensive medicines available to the population, because in C\u00f4te d'Ivoire, as in most developing countries, there is a large market for counterfeit and substandard medicines sold outside the official distribution circuit. It also works to promote the creation and development of the pharmaceutical industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Harambee Project<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harambee.es\/\">Harambee<\/a><\/strong> -which in Swahili means<em> all together<\/em>- is an international project of solidarity with sub-Saharan Africa that collaborates with educational, health or assistance projects, promoted and carried out by<br>Africans themselves in their own countries. All its volunteers work in solidarity, without receiving any remuneration.
