{"id":59526,"date":"2026-03-19T10:36:53","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T09:36:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=59526"},"modified":"2026-03-19T10:36:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T09:36:54","slug":"message-saint-jose-ocariz-opus-dei","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/actualidad\/mensaje-san-jose-ocariz-opus-dei\/","title":{"rendered":"Oc\u00e1riz outlines lines of work for Opus Dei's centennial anniversary\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fernando Oc\u00e1riz, prelate of Opus Dei, has directed a comprehensive <a href=\"https:\/\/opusdei.org\/es-es\/article\/mensaje-del-prelado-19-marzo-2026-centenario\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/opusdei.org\/es-es\/article\/mensaje-del-prelado-19-marzo-2026-centenario\/\">message <\/a>to the members of the Prelature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dated on the Solemnity of St. Joseph, monsignor Oc\u00e1riz wanted to address a few words to his \u201csons and daughters\u201d in a message framed in the next centenary of the institution, which will take place on October 2, 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Opus Dei \u201cin your hands\u201d.\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this letter, monsignor Oc\u00e1riz makes a strong appeal to the personal responsibility of each of the members of the Work to carry out the mission of this Catholic institution: \u201cthe Work is in our hands\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, he recalled and thanked the participants for their participation in the preparatory listening work for this anniversary: \u201cYoung and old, members of the Work, cooperators, friends and many people who were part of the Work at some point in their lives, you have stopped to consider how to incarnate today, with dynamic fidelity, the spirit that St. Josemar\u00eda received from God to serve the Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the results of this participation, the prelate highlights three themes that he emphasizes in this message as the keys to living the vocation to the Work today: family, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/resources-2\/industriousness-love-of-work\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"42791\">work <\/a>and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bylaws still undated<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nor does Oc\u00e1riz avoid in this message the reality of the Statutes of Opus Dei whose process of revision and adaptation to the new apostolic constitution \u201cPraedicate Evangelium\u201d began \u201calmost four years ago, and is still under study at the Holy See\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approval and publication of these bylaws, therefore, does not seem particularly imminent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>More vocations to family life, less to celibacy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Prelate's words reveal a reality that is repeated in many ecclesial institutions: the growth of \u201cpeople who seek him and who participate in the means of formation, the conversions that the Lord brings about through friendly relationships and new apostolic initiatives\u201d and, at the same time, \u201cthe difficulties for young people to perceive the beauty of the call to apostolic celibacy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, Fernando Oc\u00e1riz points out that \u201cwith the passage of time, we will have to face the difficulty of the replacement of our elders, lay people and priests. This will make it necessary to look for new ways of continuing to fulfill our mission in each region. This situation will require - as has been unanimously pointed out in the Regional Assemblies - a priority focus on the apostolic work with young people and a genuine protagonism of the supernumeraries: to continue improving their formation so that we are all in the front line in this apostolate\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Divine sonship, Eucharist and work<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prelate also wanted to look at the example of \u201cthe first Christians: men and women of every condition and origin who gave witness to their faith in Jesus Christ to the point of transforming society,\u201d an analogy often used by the founder of Opus Dei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Against this background, he points to the need to reflect on \u201ccentral aspects of the spirit of Opus Dei: divine filiation, the Mass as the center and root of our existence, the value of ordinary life and the beauty of discovering that \u00absomething divine\u00bb hidden in the most common realities of work, family and civic life\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, Oc\u00e1riz called to consider \u201cthese three central teachings of St. Josemar\u00eda, with the desire to better serve the people around us, the Church and the whole of society\u201d and to join in the Pope's intention for peace in the world in a special way.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fernando Oc\u00e1riz, prelado del Opus Dei ha dirigido un extenso mensaje a los miembros de la Prelatura.
