{"id":59694,"date":"2026-03-25T15:32:36","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T14:32:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=59694"},"modified":"2026-03-25T15:32:39","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T14:32:39","slug":"leon-xiv-message-vocations-day-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/actualidad\/leon-xiv-mensaje-jornada-vocaciones-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Leo XIV: \u201cEvery vocation is an immense gift to the Church\u201d.\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vocation is \u201cthe discovery of the free gift of God that blossoms in the depths of the heart of each one of us\u201d, affirms Pope Leo XIV in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/leo-xiv\/es\/messages\/vocations\/documents\/20260316-messaggio-vocazioni.html\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/leo-xiv\/es\/messages\/vocations\/documents\/20260316-messaggio-vocazioni.html\">message <\/a>for the 2026 Day of Prayer for Vocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pontiff points to Christ, following the Gospel of St. John, as \u201ca beautiful shepherd\u201d, that is, \u201ca perfect, authentic, exemplary shepherd, insofar as he is ready to give his life for his sheep, thus manifesting the love of God\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The beauty of the call<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ is, therefore, a \u201cShepherd who captivates\u201d and \u201cwhoever looks at him discovers that life is truly beautiful if he follows him\u201d. However, the Holy Father clarifies, \u201cto know this beauty, the eyes of the body or aesthetic criteria are not enough\u201d, but two conditions are necessary: \u201ccontemplation and interiority\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, \u201conly those who stop, listen, pray and accept his gaze\u201d can follow Christ. And in this following, says the Pope, \u201cby becoming his disciples, we in turn become \u2018beautiful\u2019; his beauty transfigures us.\u201d Consequently, \u201cthe trait that distinguishes the saints, in addition to goodness, is the dazzling spiritual beauty that radiates from those who live in Christ.\u201d Through them, Leo XIV affirms, \u201cthe Christian vocation is revealed in all its depth: to participate in his life, to share his mission and to shine with his beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Love project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pope goes on to warn that a vocation \u201cis never an imposition or a prefixed scheme to which one simply has to adhere, but a project of love and happiness\u201d. In this sense, prayer and silence are necessary, that is, \u201cthe care of interiority\u201d. A concern that the Pope encourages everyone to share because \u201conly if our environments shine with living faith, constant prayer and fraternal accompaniment, can the call of God emerge and mature, becoming a path of happiness and salvation for each one of us and for the world\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bishop of Rome insists on the importance of prayer, because \u201cevery vocation, in fact, arises from the awareness and experience of a God who is love\u201d. It is the Lord, says the Pope, who \u201chas devised a unique path of holiness and service for each one of us,\u201d for \u201che knows us profoundly.\u201d However, says Leo XIV, \u201cthis knowledge must always be mutual; we are called to know God through prayer, listening to the Word, the sacraments, the life of the Church and our dedication to our brothers and sisters\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A word to the youth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This knowledge, he continues, \u201cis not a matter of abstract intellectual or academic knowledge, but of a personal encounter that transforms life\u201d. For this reason, the Pope invites young people to \u201clisten to the voice of the Lord who invites them to live a full, fulfilled life, making their talents bear fruit and nailing their limits and weaknesses to the glorious cross of Christ\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continues the Pontiff advising young people that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cDevote time to Eucharistic adoration.\u201d,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cMeditate assiduously on the Word of God in order to live it every day.\u201d,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cParticipate actively in sacramental and ecclesial life.\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through these keys, the Pope assures, \u201cthey will know the Lord and, in the intimacy of friendship, they will discover how to give themselves to others, on the path of marriage, or the priesthood, or the permanent diaconate, or in the consecrated, religious or lay life\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leo XIV is very clear in pointing out all the calls, for \u201cevery vocation is an immense gift for the Church and for those who accept it with joy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The example of St. Joseph<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From knowledge of the father \u201ctrust is born,\u201d the Pope affirms. This is \u201cessential both to accept a vocation and to persevere in it\u201d. As an example of this, the Pontiff proposes St. Joseph, \u201can icon of total trust in God's plan: he trusted even when everything around him seemed to be darkness and negativity, when things seemed to be going in the opposite direction to what was foreseen\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, Leo XIV warned that vocation is \u201ca dynamic process of maturation, favored by intimacy with the Lord\u201d. A process in which progress is made by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cBeing with Jesus.\u201d,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cLet the Holy Spirit act in the hearts and situations of life.\u201d,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cReread everything in the light of the gift received.\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Holy Father also emphasizes the importance of \u201chaving a good spiritual guide to accompany the discovery and development of our vocation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leo XIV concludes by saying that \u201cvocation, therefore, is not an immediate possession, something \u2018given\u2019 once and for all; it is rather a journey that develops analogously to human life, in which the gift received, in addition to being cared for, must be nourished by a daily relationship with God in order to grow and bear fruit.\u201d.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La vocaci\u00f3n es \u201cel descubrimiento del don gratuito de Dios que florece en lo profundo del coraz\u00f3n de cada uno de nosotros\u201d, afirma el Papa Le\u00f3n XIV en su mensaje para la Jornada de Oraci\u00f3n por las Vocaciones de 2026.
