{"id":62519,"date":"2026-06-15T16:04:53","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T14:04:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=62519"},"modified":"2026-06-15T18:32:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T16:32:19","slug":"tribute-to-rouco-varela","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/actualidad\/reconocimiento-a-rouco-varela\/","title":{"rendered":"Rouco Varela, Marcelo Gullo, and the Impulso y Cooperaci\u00f3n Foundation Receive an Award at CEU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cardinal Antonio Mar\u00eda Rouco Varela, Archbishop Emeritus of Madrid and former president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, will receive the \u2018Award of Merit for Spain\u201d on Tuesday, the 16th, for his \u201cdefense of the unity of Spain as a moral good and his commitment against those who seek to keep the faith confined to the sacristies,\u201d according to an announcement by the International Congress \u2018Awards for Merit for Spain.\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/news\/rouco-faith-ceu-congress\/\">Cardinal Rouco Varela<\/a>, the other award recipients are the Hispanist and political scientist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcelogullo.com\/\">Marcelo Gullo Omodeo<\/a>, \u201cfor his staunch defense of Hispanic culture and Spain\u2019s role in the Americas from the very beginning.\u201d And the <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacionimpulso.es\/\">Impulso y Cooperaci\u00f3n Foundation<\/a>, \u201cfor his efforts to defend constitutional rights in those parts of Spain where they are being violated.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pope <a href=\"https:\/\/institutodemocracia.ceu.es\/\">CEU Institute for the Study of Democracy<\/a> CEU San Pablo University will hold the \u2018Awards of Merit for Spain\u2019 ceremony at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of CEU San Pablo University (23 Juli\u00e1n Romea Street).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>T\u00e1cito Group Essay Awards for Young People<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the \u2018Grupo T\u00e1cito Essay Awards for Young People\u2019 will be presented to the best senior theses by students from Spanish universities and the Colegio Mayor Universitario de San Pablo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event marks the conclusion of the academic year\u2019s activities for the Political Forum at the CEU Institute for the Study of Democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Born out of the Catholic Association of Propagandists, the Tacitus Group brought together a group of professionals who set out to lay the intellectual foundations for a democratic regime and to guide the consciences of readers toward peaceful coexistence.
