{"id":63053,"date":"2026-07-05T13:57:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T11:57:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=63053"},"modified":"2026-07-06T06:47:25","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T04:47:25","slug":"jesus-never-leaves-us-alone-when-were-feeling-down-the-pope-encourages-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/actualidad\/jesus-no-deja-nunca-solos-ante-lo-que-nos-abate-alienta-el-papa\/","title":{"rendered":"\"Jesus never leaves us alone when we are overwhelmed,\" the Pope encourages us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pope Leo XIV has praised this latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/leo-xiv\/es\/angelus\/2026\/documents\/20260705-angelus.html\">Angelus<\/a> in St. Peter's Square before his summer retreat in Castel Gandolfo, humility and simplicity, in keeping with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/resources-2\/sunday-readings-2\/sunday-readings-14th-sunday-in-ordinary-time-part-a\/\">Gospel<\/a> from today's liturgy (<em>Mt<\/em>\u00a011:25\u201330), which invites us to join in the praise that Jesus offers to the Father, \u201cLord of heaven and earth.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, he has asked: How can the weight of the cross be \u201clight\u201d and \u201cgentle\u201d (cf. v. 30)? For one reason alone: because the Lord carries it first and together with all of us, never leaving us alone in the face of what overwhelms us. As a true teacher, Jesus takes charge of humanity, wounded by evil, to care for it.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"The wisdom He bestows upon us is, therefore, a proclamation of salvation, and His yoke lifts us up every time we fall,\" he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Following Christ, \u201ca school of freedom\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Christ, our path is not one of mortifying asceticism, the Pontiff emphasized. \u201cIt is a school of freedom, one that takes the drama of history seriously and always sheds light on its meaning, especially in the darkest moments. In fact, evil is redeemed only on the cross of Jesus: only in his passion does our mortal weariness find comfort and redemption.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Christ is liberation, hope, and forgiveness<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn slavery, Christ is liberation. Under the scourge of war, Christ is hope. In the hour of sin, Christ is forgiveness. This is true wisdom\u2014that is, the path we wish to walk together, united in his name as disciples,\u201d the Pope said before some 20,000 faithful and pilgrims in St. Peter\u2019s Square, one day after returning from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/articles\/pope-leo-migrants-lampedusa\/\">Lampedusa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJesus teaches us this as the Son, by becoming our brother: through the power of the Holy Spirit, He Himself reveals to the Church the truth about God and man, because \u201cno one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him,\u201d he continued, before the Marian prayer of the Angelus,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>True Wisdom: Jesus' Teaching to Those Who Face the Greatest Hardships<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the beginning of his address, the Holy Father commented on Jesus\u201c praise. \u201cThe simplicity of such a spontaneous and joyful gesture is in keeping with God\u2019s way, for He loves to reveal Himself \u201dto the little ones,\u2018 while remaining hidden \u2019from the wise and the learned.\u201d\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey are, in fact, so full of their own ideas that they fail to recognize the presence of Christ, the Messiah who visits his people. Human wisdom then turns into arrogance, and doctrine degenerates into pride.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God\u2019s true wisdom, on the other hand, is revealed\u2014as the Successor of Peter has emphasized\u2014\u201cin the humility of the flesh,\u201c and his teaching is directed toward those who face the greatest difficulties: \u201dCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened\u201d (v. 28), says the Lord.\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turning to Jesus means responding to his love and sharing in his life, even to the cross, just as he himself explained to us: \u201cIf anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me\u201d (<em>Mt <\/em>\u201d16.24),\" he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Self-sacrifice for love: the essence of Jesus' teaching<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is precisely this self-giving out of love that is Jesus\u201c \u201dyoke\u201d (cf. <em>Mt<\/em> 11.29), that is, the essence of his teaching, the heart of his wisdom, ablaze with love for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Dear friends, as we give thanks to the Lord for this loving expression of trust, let us ask for the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace, for the good of the Church and the whole world,\" the Pope concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Prayer for the Victims and All Venezuelans<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the Angelus prayer, Leo XIV opened his heart to say, \u201cI always remember the victims of the earthquake and all the Venezuelan people in my prayers: may the Lord sustain them during this very difficult time.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Beatification of a Vietnamese Priest<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pope also reported that last Thursday, at the Tac Say Shrine in Vietnam, Father Francesco Saverio Tru\u2019o\u2019ng B\u01dau\u2014who was murdered in 1946 out of hatred for the faith\u2014was beatified.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAmid an atmosphere of abuse of power and violence, he became a defender of people\u2019s rights and did not abandon his parishioners,\u201d said Leo XIV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMay their intercession and prayers sustain the servants of the Gospel who, even today, find themselves facing persecution,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El Papa Le\u00f3n XIV ha elogiado en este \u00faltimo \u00c1ngelus en el Plaza de San Pedro antes de su descanso veraniego en Castel Gandolfo, la humildad y la sencillez, al hilo del Evangelio de la liturgia de hoy (Mt\u00a011, 25-30), que nos invita a compartir la alabanza que Jes\u00fas eleva al Padre, \u201cSe\u00f1or del cielo [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2425,"featured_media":63055,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_members_access_role":[],"_members_access_error":""},"categories":[36,51],"tags":[2319],"class_list":["post-63053","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-actualidad","category-vaticano","tag-papa-leon-xiv"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Jes\u00fas no deja nunca solos ante lo que nos abate, alienta el Papa<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"\u00bfC\u00f3mo puede ser \u201cligero\u201d y \u201csuave\u201d el peso de la cruz?
