{"id":63798,"date":"2026-08-17T12:33:23","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T10:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/?p=63798"},"modified":"2026-08-17T12:34:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T10:34:02","slug":"leo-xiv-angelus-august-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/actualidad\/leon-xiv-angelus-16-agosto\/","title":{"rendered":"Le\u00f3n XIV denounces social injustices and calls for peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the recitation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/leo-xiv\/es\/angelus\/2026\/documents\/20260816-angelus.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/leo-xiv\/es\/angelus\/2026\/documents\/20260816-angelus.html\">Angelus<\/a> In Castel Gandolfo on August 16, Pope Leo XIV reflected on the Gospel passage about the Canaanite woman to denounce social injustices and issue a strong call for international peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his address, the Pontiff emphasized that we can learn \u00abhumility and determination\u00bb from the figure of the Canaanite woman, recalling that through faith we come to understand that \u00abGod\u2019s table is set for everyone and that no one is left with only crumbs.\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pope has asserted that \u00abthe inequalities, discrimination, and barriers that trample on the dignity of so many of God\u2019s sons and daughters are unbearable.\u00bb He also called on the Church not to be afraid to \u00abshare the peace of Christ beyond the boundaries that have already been drawn.\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Urgent Call for a Two-State Solution in Palestine<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the Angelus prayer, the Holy Father turned his attention to the conflict in the Middle East. Leo XIV once again condemned the suffering of the civilian population: \u00abI reiterate my call for an end to the repeated acts of violence against the Palestinian civilian population in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/en\/news\/culture\/books\/israel-and-palestine-the-history-of-a-never-ending-conflict\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"51499\">West Bank<\/a>\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In light of this escalation, he has urged diplomats and global institutions to act swiftly: \u00abI urgently call on the international community to ensure progress toward a two-state solution, in the interest of a just and lasting peace.\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sports as a Force for Peace and a Greeting to Pilgrims<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pope also mentioned the Mediterranean Games, which will begin this week in Taranto, with athletes from Africa, Asia, and Europe participating.
