Tiens bon, Cheikh, ils arrivent\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La voix de la fille sonnait \u00e0 la fois douce et \u00e9nergique dans ce cano\u00eb \u00e0 la d\u00e9rive, dans l'obscurit\u00e9 de la nuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il me rappelait celui de ma s\u0153ur Fatou quand elle me r\u00e9veillait le matin pour aller \u00e0 l'\u00e9cole. J'\u00e9tais souvent en retard, mais elle ne m'a jamais laiss\u00e9 manquer un seul jour. L'\u00e9cole est notre salut\", me r\u00e9p\u00e9tait-elle. Tu ne sais pas \u00e0 quel point nous sommes chanceux. Le fait que les missionnaires aient ouvert une \u00e9cole \u00e0 seulement une demi-heure de marche de notre maison est une bonne chose que nous ne pouvons pas nous permettre de manquer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ma pauvre petite soeur Fatou, comme elle m'aimait ! Elle s'est occup\u00e9e de moi quand ma m\u00e8re est morte et s'est assur\u00e9e que j'avais tout ce dont j'avais besoin en vendant du poisson au march\u00e9. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 tu\u00e9e \u00e0 coups de machettes par les m\u00eames personnes qui ont ensuite d\u00e9truit l'\u00e9cole et br\u00fbl\u00e9 nos maisons. Puis vint la s\u00e9cheresse, les abus des entreprises qui monopolisaient la p\u00eache, la chute du prix de l'or par les contrebandiers qui rendait le travail dans la mine insoutenable....<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">J'ai tout essay\u00e9 pour survivre et maintenant je suis l\u00e0, perdu au milieu de l'oc\u00e9an, tombant dans le pi\u00e8ge de la mort dans ma tentative d'y \u00e9chapper. Apr\u00e8s 20 jours dans ce bateau puant, sans eau et sans nourriture, presque tout le monde est mort. Et je suis sur le point de le faire. En fait, je ne peux pas attendre la fin de cette torture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cheikh, r\u00e9veille-toi, ils arrivent ! -La fille m'a encore cri\u00e9 : \"Courage, il y a beaucoup de gens qui prient pour toi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avec beaucoup d'efforts - quand on est d\u00e9shydrat\u00e9, m\u00eame battre des cils est un exercice d'halt\u00e9rophilie - j'ai pu ouvrir les yeux et la voir. Quelle surprise ! Elle n'\u00e9tait pas aussi jeune que sa voix le laissait entendre et elle tenait un enfant dans ses bras. Elle \u00e9tait agit\u00e9e, nerveuse. Elle continuait \u00e0 regarder l'horizon avec inqui\u00e9tude. Je n'avais aucune id\u00e9e qu'elle avait embarqu\u00e9 avec nous et, de plus, elle ne ressemblait pas \u00e0 quelqu'un qui venait de passer plus de deux semaines sans manger ni boire ; mais le visage de l'enfant semblait familier.....<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L'\u00e9puisement m'a envahi, et au moment o\u00f9 j'allais refermer les yeux, le petit gar\u00e7on s'est approch\u00e9 de moi et a pos\u00e9 sa main sur mes l\u00e8vres. Un torrent d'eau fra\u00eeche semblait se pr\u00e9cipiter soudainement dans ma gorge, mes l\u00e8vres et ma langue \u00e9taient s\u00e8ches comme une semelle de chaussure, et au m\u00eame moment, une lueur les d\u00e9robait \u00e0 ma vue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le flash s'est av\u00e9r\u00e9 provenir du puissant projecteur du navire de sauvetage qui venait de nous trouver. Plusieurs membres de l'\u00e9quipage sont descendus pour voir mes compagnons, m'ont pris \u00e0 bord et ont confirm\u00e9 que j'\u00e9tais le seul survivant. Qu'\u00e9tait-il arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 cette m\u00e8re et \u00e0 son enfant ? Je les avais \u00e0 mes c\u00f4t\u00e9s quelques minutes auparavant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c0 l'h\u00f4pital, j'ai pos\u00e9 des questions par l'interm\u00e9diaire de l'interpr\u00e8te sur le couple \u00e9trange qui m'a aid\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9sister. Personne n'a pu me donner d'explication. Un m\u00e9decin m'a dit qu'il \u00e9tait normal de souffrir d'hallucinations dans l'\u00e9tat o\u00f9 je me trouvais ; mais l'un des infirmiers a sorti une sorte de carte de pri\u00e8re qu'il portait autour du cou avec l'image d'une femme et de son enfant. C'est un scapulaire de Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel\", m'a-t-il dit. Elle est la sainte patronne des gens de la mer qui l'invoquent en cas de danger. Je me souviens du moment o\u00f9 la fille de la mer m'a encourag\u00e9e en me disant qu'il y avait beaucoup de gens qui priaient pour moi, et je me joins aussi \u00e0 ce cri en la remerciant avec les mots que l'infirmi\u00e8re m'a appris et qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 les premiers mots que j'ai appris en espagnol, en chantant pour elle : <em>Hail, Star of the Seas !<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2013\u00ab\u00a1No te duermas!
