Il tente en vain de ramener le si\u00e8ge apostolique \u00e0 Rome et de r\u00e9unir les \u00c9glises d'Occident et d'Orient. Aust\u00e8re, il aide les pauvres et lutte contre la corruption du clerg\u00e9.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le grand objectif de son pontificat \u00e9tait de r\u00e9tablir le si\u00e8ge pontifical \u00e0 Rome, mais il n'y parvint pas. En effet, en 1366, face \u00e0 l'opposition du roi de France et des cardinaux fran\u00e7ais, il part pour Rome. Il entre en pleurant dans la Ville \u00e9ternelle, o\u00f9 aucun pape ne s'est rendu depuis 50 ans. Les grandes basiliques sont en ruine et il entreprend de les r\u00e9parer et de nourrir les pauvres.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cependant, la France est en guerre contre l'Angleterre, sa sant\u00e9 d\u00e9cline et Urbain V d\u00e9cide de rentrer en France, malgr\u00e9 les supplications des Romains et de sainte Brigitte de Su\u00e8de, entre autres.
