Don\u00f2 i suoi beni ai poveri e si ritir\u00f2 nel deserto, dove combatt\u00e9 le tentazioni del diavolo e si dedic\u00f2 alla preghiera, con austerit\u00e0 di vita. Con lui, gruppi di <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/it\/risorse\/i-monaci-del-deserto\/\">monaci<\/a> consacrati al servizio di Dio. Per la loro capacit\u00e0 di portare le anime dei peccatori fuori dall'inferno, vengono spesso accesi fal\u00f2 in loro onore. \"<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaticannews.va\/es\/santos\/01\/17\/s--antonio--abad.html\">Il diavolo<\/a> teme il digiuno, la preghiera, l'umilt\u00e0 e le opere buone\", ha detto, \"e si riduce all'impotenza davanti a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elpandelospobres.com\/san-antonio-abad-17-de-enero\">il segno della croce<\/a>\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il suo modo di vivere in solitudine, abbandonando lo stile di vita abituale e lasciandosi alle spalle i beni e gli affetti del mondo, lo ha reso il padre di quella forma di monachesimo primitivo nota come anacoretismo, ha spiegato. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diocesismalaga.es\/pagina-de-inicio\/2014055455\/san-antonio-abad-mucho-mas-que-el-patron-de-los-animales\/\">Antonio Moreno<\/a>. In seguito, sarebbero sorte le prime comunit\u00e0 cenobitiche di monaci che vivevano in un monastero con una regola, come fanno oggi molte congregazioni religiose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Secondo il Martirologio Romano, si adoper\u00f2 per rafforzare l'azione della Chiesa, sostenne i confessori della fede durante le persecuzioni dell'imperatore Diocleziano, appoggi\u00f2 la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnesmag.com\/it\/risorse\/santo-atanasio-fedelta-e-forza\/\">Sant'Atanasio<\/a> contro gli ariani e raccolse molti discepoli. \u00c8 conosciuto come il porcaro perch\u00e9 nel Medioevo gli Antoniani avevano il permesso di far passare senza restrizioni nei villaggi le loro mandrie di maiali, che sfamavano i poveri.
