Desembarc\u00f3 en Thanet y avis\u00f3 al rey Etelberto de Kent. El rey, que se hab\u00eda casado con Berta, princesa cristiana de la familia real de los francos, les permiti\u00f3 asentarse en Canterbury, capital del reino, y les dio libertad para predicar. Pronto se convirti\u00f3 el rey, bautizado en el 597.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El Papa se alegr\u00f3 con la noticia y envi\u00f3 nuevos colaboradores y el nombramiento de Agust\u00edn como <a href=\"https:\/\/es.catholic.net\/op\/articulos\/32163\/agustn-de-canterbury-santo.html#modal\">arzobispo primado<\/a> de Inglaterra. Al mismo tiempo, le dijo que no se enorgulleciera por los \u00e9xitos y por el honor del alto cargo. Las dos mujeres, por ser cristianas, fueron arrestadas y encarceladas juntas en Se\u00fal.
