Bishop Alejandro Arellano will preside over Family Day in Torreciudad while awaiting the Vatican's decision

The Torreciudad Shrine is preparing to host the 34th Annual Marian Family Conference, a festive gathering that brings together thousands of families every year for a day of prayer, fellowship, and devotion under the protection of the Virgin Mary.

This year's event will feature a particularly significant ecclesiastical presence: the main Mass and the principal ceremonies will be presided over by Archbishop Alejandro Arellano Cedillo, titular archbishop of Bisuldino and Dean of the Tribunal of the Roman Rota.

A Key Figure at the Decisive Moment for the Shrine

Bishop Arellano’s participation in this large-scale event is drawing particular interest due to the role he is carrying out at the direct request of the Holy See. The prelate was appointed Pontifical Commissioner with full powers for the Torreciudad complex in order to investigate and resolve the legal and administrative dispute between the Diocese of Barbastro-Monzón and the Prelature of Opus Dei regarding the canonical status and regularization of the shrine.

While the parties involved and the church community await the final ruling and the proposed resolution being drafted by the Toledo-based jurist, Arellano’s presence as the principal celebrant underscores the atmosphere of institutional normalcy, pastoral closeness, and connection with the faithful that characterizes daily life at the Marian shrine.

A program packed with events for the whole family

The program on September 12 will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the opening of the grounds and confessions, followed at noon by prayer, the traditional offerings, and the Solemn Holy Mass at 12:30 p.m., followed by the children’s heartfelt presentation to the Virgin Mary.

After the lunch break, the afternoon will feature a combination of music and a performance by the Alborada School Choir, as well as a discussion on dating and marriage titled «Let’s Talk About Love… for Real,» led by Quique Mira and María Lorenzo, and the recitation of the Holy Rosary with a Solemn Exposition, which will bring the day to a close at 5:00 p.m.
