Pope Leo immediately pointed out the petition for which they gathered to pray the Holy Rosary: “peace for all children, especially for those who live where there is war, in so many countries of the earth.”.

They were the luminous mysteries, and there were hundreds of children and their families in the Vatican Gardens, in the Grotto of Lourdes.

Thanks to Cardinal Koch and ACN

“I thank His Eminence Cardinal Koch (President of ACN) for his greeting and the Aid to the Church in Need Foundation for promoting this initiative and for the great work it does. I thank all those present for their attendance, especially you children, along with your parents and other family members, the priests, and all those who accompany you,” the Holy Father began. Speech.

“I’m so happy to be with you! And you, tell me: are you happy? Are you happy to be here?” “Yessss,” the children replied.

“I am happy,” the Pope continued. “Especially because tonight we have met with the two people who love us more than anyone else. Do you know who they are? [They answer: Jesus] Jesus, and who else? [Mary] And Mary. The Lord Jesus and his mother Mary, who never leave us alone and who are always close to us.”.

A special gift: peace for all the children of the world.

“Yes, we love you, Jesus and Mary, and tonight we ask you for a special gift: Peace for all the children of the world, ”Especially for those who live where there is war, in many countries of the world,” the Pope added.

We do it with the prayer of Holy Rosary, “a simple prayer that everyone can pray. We have already offered flowers, a sign of love. Soon we will light some candles and think about Jesus at important moments in his life, when he brought light and peace to so many people.”.

Scenes from the life of the Lord

Then the Successor of Peter recalled scenes from the life of Jesus that are remembered in the Rosary.

“When he was baptized in the Jordan River, when he transformed water into wine at the wedding in Cana, when he proclaimed his Kingdom, when he revealed his glory on Mount Tabor, and when, in the Upper Room, during the Last Supper, he gave us the Eucharist. These are moments in which he gave us wonderful gifts, which we must not forget, and for this we want to thank him. Let us do it together, once again. Let us all say: Thank you, Jesus!” [repeat]. “And let us ask him with confidence, all together: Give us peace!” [repeat].

“We are not alone: fifty million Hail Marys rise to heaven”

I want to tell you one last thing, Pope Leo added to the 1,300 people present, “Tonight and these days, we are not alone in our prayer. Throughout the world, a million children are praying with us. One million! Imagine: fifty million Hail Marys rising to Heaven from every corner and in every language of the Earth, asking for peace and joining together as in one enormous rosary, to embrace and unite all the continents, races, and nations of the planet.”.

“We commit to being good: that's how peace grows!”

“Here, dear children, today we pray with all these friends. And in doing so, we also commit ourselves to being good and behaving well,” the Holy Father concluded. “At home, at school, in catechism classes, with our parents, with everyone, even when we play and practice sports, because prayer must always be accompanied by good works, by gestures of love. And in this way, peace grows!”

“Thank you all again for being here. And now let us pray,” the Pope encouraged.
